Job Description
The Building Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the foundry and machine shop facilities. This includes work areas, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and industrial spaces. The ideal candidate will have experience working in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments and understand the safety protocols associated with such settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, and office areas.
- Sweep, mop, and scrub industrial floors in production areas, including machine shop and foundry.
- Remove metal shavings, dust, sand, slag, and other industrial debris using appropriate equipment (e.g., industrial vacuums, scrubbers, sweepers).
- Empty and dispose of trash and scrap materials in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Clean and maintain entranceways, windows, and interior/exterior walkways.
- Monitor and restock janitorial supplies, including soap, paper towels, and cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with safety and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Report maintenance issues such as leaks, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager.
- Support special cleaning projects as needed (e.g., shutdown cleanings, post-maintenance cleanup).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1–2 years custodial experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, janitorial equipment, and industrial cleaning agents.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety protocols in industrial settings.
- Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in hot, dusty, and noisy environments.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise, heat, dust, and fumes typical of a foundry and machine shop.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots is required.
- Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on facility needs.

Wage $21.52 per hour
