Job Overview
We are seeking a nurturing, grounded, and enthusiastic teaching assistant who is inspired by Waldorf education and passionate about nature. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, creativity, and a deep respect for childhood, while embracing the joys and challenges of working in an all-weather, outdoor learning environment. This job will officially start on Monday, January 5 with opportunities for part time training in December.
This part time position is 25 hours per week: 8:30a-1:30p, Monday through Friday
Responsibilities
- Lead or co-lead a mixed-age outdoor preschool group ( ages 2.5–6)
- Help maintain a predictable daily rhythm of seasonal songs, stories, and hands-on activities (nature crafts, cooking, gardening)
- Model reverence for nature and the environment through example and daily practice
- Observe and support each child’s individual development in alignment with Waldorf developmental principles
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment in all weather conditions
- Communicate effectively with parents
- Contribute to seasonal festivals
Qualifications
- Genuine love and respect for young children and their developmental journey
- Interest in Waldorf education and nature-based learning (formal training not required, but a willingness to learn is essential)
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round
- Ability to follow and support the Lead Teacher’s rhythm, direction, and classroom management style
- Strong observational skills and a calm, grounded presence
- Physical ability to be active throughout the day (walking, sitting on the ground, carrying supplies, lifting children if needed)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in conduct
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Livescan background check
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with young children (formally or informally)
- Comfort with simple songs, storytelling, or handwork (or interest in learning)
- Ability to prepare snacks, assist with transitions, and help maintain a clean and organized environment
Pay: $20.00 per hour to start
Hours: 8:30a-1:30p, Monday through Friday
