Job Description modifications for union represented position are subject to CBA guidelines._\n\n**JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:**\n\nCARDIAC SONOGRAPHY SERVICES:\n\n- Performs routine or limited cardiac sonographic examinations using established procedures, policies and practices to ensure optimal results.\n\n- Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.\n\n- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.\n\n- Prepares for and assists physicians in a variety of diagnostic cardiac sonography and\/or guidance imaging during invasive procedures.\n\n- Provides interpreting physician with an oral or written summary of technical findings.\n\n- Explains and educates the patient on the procedure, medications or contrast media, and associated biological effects in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.\n\n- Uses independent judgment during the cardiac sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings\n\n- Uses cognitive cardiac sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.\n\n- Perform examinations following proper procedure protocol including correct positioning of patient and giving proper breathing instruction. Operate equipment in safe, prescribed manner ensuring quality and cost efficient sonograms.
